چکیده

Travel Demand Management (TDM) consists of a variety of policy measures that affect the transportation system’s effectiveness by changing travel behavior. Although the primary objective to implement such TDM strategies is not to improve traffic safety, their impact on traffic safety should not be neglected. The main purpose of this study is to investigate differences in the traffic safety consequences of two TDM scenarios: a fuel-cost increase scenario (i.e. increasing the fuel price by 20%) and a teleworking scenario (i.e. 5% of the working population engages in teleworking). Since TDM strategies are usually conducted at a geographically aggregated level, crash prediction models that are used to evaluate such strategies should also be developed at an aggregate level. Moreover, given that crash occurrences are often spatially heterogeneous and are affected by many spatial variables, the existence of spatial correlation in the data is also examined. The results indicate the necessity of accounting for the spatial correlation when developing crash prediction models. Therefore, Zonal Crash Prediction Models (ZCPMs) within the geographically weighted generalized linear modeling framework are developed to incorporate the spatial variations in association between the Number Of Crashes (NOCs) (including fatal, severe, and slight injury crashes recorded between 2004 and 2007) and a set of explanatory variables. Literature Review of Traffic Assignment: Static and Dynamic

Rapid urban growth is resulting into increase in travel demand and private vehicle ownership in urban areas. In the present scenario the existing infrastructure has failed to match the demand that leads to traffic congestion, vehicular pollution and accidents. With traffic congestion augmentation on the road, delay of commuters has increased and reliability of road network has decreased. Four s...

A neuro-fuzzy approach to vehicular traffic flow prediction for a metropolis in a developing country

Short-term prediction of traffic flow is central to alleviating congestion and controlling the negative impacts of environmental pollution resulting from vehicle emissions on both inter- and intra-urban highways. The strong need to monitor and control congestion time and costs for metropolis in developing countries has therefore motivated the current study. This paper establishes the applicatio...

An empirical assessment of teleworking using the Sydney Household Travel Survey data

Teleworking has long been considered an important demand-management strategy that can assist in easing congestion problems and associated environmental impacts. Recent advances in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) has reinforced its appeal as a cost-effective solution. Teleworking could be a viable demand management strategy in Sydney where pressures on the network, and the growth...

راهبردها و راهکارهای مدیریت مصرف سوخت در حمل ونقل شهری: اولویت بندی بر اساس روش نمودار هسه

Increasing number of urban trips and inappropriate use of motor vehicle fleet, especially private passenger cars with its unwanted consequences, including excessive increase in fuel consumption, makes it necessary to think about appropriate strategies and policies for planning and management of energy resources. This paper tries to identify fuel management strategies and policies in urban trans...
